Hecate Teams Up with Ideematec for Inaugural L:Tec Project

Globally-ranked solar developer to procure 4MW of recently launched Horizon L:Tec trackers

Phoenix, Ariz., November 17, 2020 – Ideematec Inc., the leading global supplier of solar tracking systems, today announced that it was selected by world-leading developer Hecate Energy to provide 4 megawatts (MW) of its Horizon L:Tec™ solar trackers for an upcoming installation. The project, located in Newberry, South Carolina, will be installed by construction and project management services company, Reach Construction Group.

“With their efficiency enhancing design, reliability under extreme conditions, and ultra-quiet operation, Ideematec, Inc’s solar trackers are an ideal fit for Hecate’s Newberry solar project,” said Preston Schulz, Director of Development for Hecate Energy. “Ideematec’s trackers are essential to helping Hecate meet our mission of making a measurable difference in the transition to a zero-carbon electric grid; building projects that minimize disruption to neighbors while maximizing facility output.”

This project will be the first facility to adopt Ideematec’s new tracking system, the Horizon L:Tec, which was launched during Solar Power International this Fall. The new two-in-portrait (2P) tracker features a patented locking technology that secures module wings in position against extreme wind loads, to reduce maintenance costs and expand product lifespan. Panels are able to remain in stow position, at a zero degree angle, against up to 180 mile per hour winds. The tracker integrates seamlessly with bifacial modules to generate more energy per tracker, and accommodates extra-large photovoltaic modules.

“We are honored to be working with Hecate and Reach on the Newberry project,” says Philipp Klemm, CEO Ideematec Inc. “Their decision to choose the Horizon L:Tec tracker underscores the importance of constant innovation among solar manufacturers. We believe our new design is the next benchmark for solar tracking, prioritizing both durability and simplicity.”

The facility is on track to complete commissioning in the Spring of 2021. Once operating, the project will contribute to the state’s budding solar market––with nearly 1,477 MW of solar currently installed, South Carolina is ranked 13th in the U.S. for solar deployment.

Ideematec Announces World’s Largest Single-Axis Tracker Solar Project

The global solar tracking manufacturer will supply 800MW of its Bifacial Horizon plus™ systems for Qatar’s leading landmark solar project in Al Kharsaah

DOHA, Qatar, November 3, 2020 – Ideematec, the leading global supplier of solar tracking systems, today announced that it will supply 800 megawatts (MW) of its Bifacial optimized Horizon Plus™ solar tracker for the world’s biggest power plant using a two-in-portrait (2P) single axis tracker.

The project is located in AL-Kharsaah, approximately 80 kilometers west of the capital Doha. The solar facility will generate enough clean energy to meet ten percent of peak electricity demand in the state of Qatar. It is on schedule to be fully operational before the 2022 World Cup and will support the Qatar National Vision 2030 for sustainable development by facilitating local decarbonization. The project is the third-largest solar plant in the world and the first utility-scale solar project in Qatar.

“We are honored to be chosen by leading global companies to supply our Horizon Plus™ solar tracker for this record-breaking project,” said Mario Eckl, CEO of Ideematec. “This milestone power plant will strengthen our Middle-East and North African (MENA) portfolio, which is on pace to total 1.6 gigawatts (GW) by 2021.”

To boost energy production and reduce maintenance costs, the plant will be one of the first in the world to utilize robots for ongoing and proactive cleaning. This is made possible by the tracker’s record-breaking length of 190 meters. Ideematec will support the project’s installation and on-site logistics and commissioning.

Ideematec has supplied trackers for some of the largest PV plants worldwide, including projects in Australia, Jordan, Morocco and Europe. In 2019 the company successfully delivered four flagship projects, each generating a significant contribution of solar energy to their region. With more than 860 MW trackers already delivered and in-operation in the MENA region, Ideematec’s Horizon Trackers are now stabilizing and exceeding their 2019 ranking as third leading supplier in the market.
